I am very happy to see the Rock Ethics Institute taking a lead in using social media to encourage ethical engagement. This is a very important and transformative moment for Higher Education.

As technology increasingly allows us to communicate across cultures and perspectives, and empowers us to build communities around issues of common ethical and political concern, educators like those associated with the Rock must play a central role. This can only happen if we are familiar with and well practiced in the social media technologies driving these changes.

I look forward to working with you in the years to come to ensure that the College of the Liberal Arts is a leader in the use of social media technology to build communities of education that impact the lives of students, faculty and, more generally, citizens of the world.
